Motions for Main LMC Conference – 12
& 13 June 2003
The following motions are submitted by Devon LMC for inclusion in the
agenda for the 2003 LMC Conference
- That conference deplores the attitude of the Chief Medical Officer
to target payments in immunisation.
- That conference demands that exception reporting is allowed for
all target payments, particularly with regard to MMR.
- That conference, while welcoming the communication benefits of
copying letters to patients, demands that the initiative is fully funded.
- That conference believes that the maximum charge of £50.00 for
providing copy medical records under the Data Protection Act 1998 remains
unrealistic and demand that it be changed to equate to the actual cost of
provision including the medical time involved.
- That conference demands
that an agreed rate for GPs with a Special Interest be nationally
negotiated.
- That conference:
a)
deplores the lack of progress over many years made with regard to
remuneration for clinical assistants and hospital practitioners, and
b)
yet again, demands that the GPC takes over negotiating rights for
clinical assistants and hospital practitioners.
- That conference, with regard to the medical care for asylum
seekers, demands adequate extra resources to GPs providing that service.
- That conference demands that the national audit office be asked to
investigate the disappearance of monies which the Department of Health
says have been given to PCTs for specific purposes and that this be
treated in the same way as other forms of NHS fraud, with police
involvement if necessary.
- That conference condemns the lack of an integrated system,
financial and clinical, to deal with Hepatitis B immunisation and immunity
issues for all relevant groups of individuals.
