Devon LMC - Voluntary Levy – 2008
We have received notification from the General Practitioners Defence Fund of the amount of the voluntary levy for the calendar year 2008. The total amount required is £65,000 which represents 5.62 pence per patient.
The figure of 5.62ppp is based on the latest patient population figures that the GPDF have requested, so may not work out to exactly this amount. You will also recall that the total amount requested has to be paid, regardless of how many practices have signed the mandate authorising the PPSA to deduct this levy from their payments, so the final pence per patient figure could be slightly different to the 5.62 pence noted above if practices do not sign up to pay this levy. In fact, in 2007, the figure asked for was 5.4ppp but ended up as 5.46ppp to practices (2 practices did not sign up) .
For those practices who have already signed the voluntary levy mandate, this amount will be deducted from your payment from the PPSA in June 2008.
For any new practices since last year and for those who did not reply last year, a new mandate for completion will be sent to you shortly. All LMC member representatives urge your co-operation in paying this levy, resulting in a fair and reasonable cost to all.
Please note that PMS practices already receive allowance for this payment in their baselines, so no mandates will be issued to these practices. The amount will be automatically deducted by the PPSA in June 2008.
If you have any queries about the voluntary levy please do not hesitate to contact the office.
